READINESS NEWSLETTER
May 2013
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that this is our last newsletter until next fall. The
year has been filled with many lasting memories. We were sorry for the kite
day that happened and didn’t happen but this Spring was a little cold and a
lot of rain.
April 29-May 3 we will continue to talk about animals. This is always a fun
week with many interesting projects. If you are available to attend our
church service on May 5 the Readiness program will be highlighted. Any
Readiness students will be singing 2 songs.
May 6-10 we will study bugs and insects. We will celebrate any summer
birthdays children may have. If they want to bring take home treats that is
fine, but not mandatory. We will celebrate summer birthdays anytime during
the month of May. Please make sure they are take home treats.
The MWF classes will be going to a horse farm on May 8. Please plan on going
with us and if you like horses the owner needs help with leading the horses
during our visit. We need to leave at the beginning of your child’s class.
Sign up is posted. Maps will be near the sign up sheet.
May 13-17 we will study dinosaurs.
May 20-24 we will talk about summer. We will have show and tell on Thurs,
May 23 and Fri. May 24.
Our Graduation Program for the Monday / Wednesday / Friday children will be
on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Grace Church. We would
like the children to be in our classroom at 6:45 p.m. to warm up. The
program will be short but special. Please bring the family and share this
evening with us. We will have some of the children’s artwork on display.
Cookies and punch will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the
presentation of diplomas.

The End of the Year picnics will be at Columbian Park. We will make our own
sack lunches at school, and walk to the park on May 28 and May 29. Parents
can walk to the park with us or meet us at the park. We will make our
lunches (snacks) at school. We should be at the park approximately one hour
after school starts. We will go to the playground after we place our lunches
in the pavilion close to the play ground on Park Ave. After we play we will
eat our lunches and then dismiss at regular time from the park. If you bring
siblings they need to bring their own lunch. We will furnish drinks.
Thanks for being special parents and for making this year a rewarding one
for us as well as the children. We will look forward to seeing those
children who will be returning in the fall and know that the rest of the
children will be going on to great schools. We wish all of you a safe and
happy summer.
May God bless each of you,

family of our program and we are grateful for your help.
Mrs. English and Mrs. Black are on a Relay for Life team, Angels with Grace.
It is an all night family event, but we poop out early and don’t last all
night. The proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. It is held on May 31-
June 1 at Jeff High School. It you want to join us for all night or for a
